CACNE Scholarship
In 1996, to further our connection to the university, then club president Michael Trevino established the New England Alumni Scholarship district. That same year the club started fund-raising to create an endowment, which is now complete and enables CACNE to continue this leadership scholarship in perpetuity.
CACNE is excited and proud to award scholarships each year to outstanding New England students and we are very enthusiastic about maintaining this campus connection. GO BEARS!
2008 CACNE Scholarship Recipients
For those of you who were unable to make it to this year's Blue&Gold Reception, we are pleased to announce the recipients of this year's California Alumni Leadership Award for New England. After unprecedented alumni support and one long day of interviews, we were able to select two individuals who have shown amazing leadership in their lives already and who we believe have a great amount of leadership potential for their time at Cal and in the future.
This year's recipients are Aditya Mahesh and Adrienne Saltz. Both students have demonstrated excellent academic achievement and leadership while in high school, including starting their own student organizations and a successful internet business, volunteering in the community, and participating in sports and student government. More importantly, both quickly exhibited a drive to continue to lead as they move forward in life. Aditya and Adrienne will surely make strong students and leaders at Cal.
We are also pleased to announce, that under the leadership of Cal New England Alum of the Year Ed Brakeman, and due to the extremely generous contributions of many of you, the Cal Alumni Club has recently surpassed its fundraising goal of $25,000. This means that in every future year we will have another endowed scholarship to award to Cal students like Aditya and Adrienne. We have no doubt that we will continue to be overwhelmed by the support of our New England Alumni and hope that we can continue to endow more scholarships in the time to come.
